Givenchy Ruffles Into Spring

Sweatshirt - Balenciaga (old)
Skirt - Givenchy
Boots - Chanel (old)

This denim skirt is the first ruffled piece of clothing I have ever purchased. There is a lot of chatter on how ruffles are not flattering to most body types, which got to me until now, I convinced myself to give it a try. Besides, delicate and feminine are the two adjectives that came to mind when I first laid eyes on the skirt and who can resist delicate and feminine? A crop top would have been the perfect compliment, but the rest of the outfit was really dictated by the weather, which I will refrain from discussing in yet another post. Was I looking to add layers and layers of fabric to my frame? of coarse not, but it's fashion, I liked it and rolled with it.

Happy Good Friday and have a great Easter weekend. Thanks for visiting!

Animalistic!

Animalistic

Animal print is an ageless closet staple that has stood the test of time, from Elizabeth Taylor to Kate Moss, this trend has been spotted on fashion icons countless times. I've always associated this look with elegance and and at the same time nonchalance chicness, as in the case with Ms. Moss. Looking through my closet is proof that I have clearly not tired of nor retired the print and I'm still adding leopard, cheetah prints et cetra to my wish list. A few years ago, I went months wearing jeans and t-shirts everywhere then tried to dress the look up with a animal print coat or shoes, an easy fix if you have to run, which I had to most of the time. Above are items waiting in different shopping baskets for me to commit to and buy.

Paired these fun Frame overalls with serious sky-scrapper Alaia heels, kind of a kicker to my Monday. Do I always wear that black Mango blazer? Why, yes it's an overused closet staple. Hope you have a great start to your week.

"Spring is nature's way of saying, 'Let's party!'"

Dress - ASOS
Bag - Celine
Shoes - Tom Ford
Sunglasses - Ray Ban
Bracelets - Celine, Cartier

How true is the quote (title) by Robin Williams? I stole the quote from a poster in my building. Finally we get to wear the dresses we bought to be worn without coats, like this ASOS dress I lucked into one late night while combating insomnia online. I say 'lucked into' because this is the first purchase I am 100 percent happy with from the retailer.

Have a great weekend!

Beauty (Re)Discoveries

Coconut Oil - Alaffia African Coconut Oil (bought at local Whole Foods)
Brow Gel - Anastasia Beverly Hills

This a bit passé, but this past Winter my skin did not respond to any sort of moisturizer, I literally had to moisturize two to three times during the day, no bueno that was not cool. In the process of trying to find the right moisturizer I accumulated enough lotions and potions for a decade, but I did find the one. Ladies and gents let me introduce you to Alaffia coconut oil. Now granted I (we) knew about the amazing effects of coconut oil, growing up my mother would use coconut oil on my hair and I hated the smell, so this always deterred me from picking up a tab. I still hate the smell of coconut oil, but when it comes to beauty, it's almost always about sacrifice, hello supple skin! Besides Alaffia Coconut Oil is quite mild and not as coconut-ty.

Brows have always been a sensitive subject for me, so when I finally found someone who did not wax them all off I was overjoyed. In the same week I also discovered Ms. Anastasia has a brow gel, perfect to tame my bushy brows. Score and score!

Have a lovely day!

Hued Reflections

Blazer- Mango
Top- Zara (old, similar here
Skirt - Tibi
Shoes- Christian Louboutin
Sunglasses- Ray Ban

I solely blame and thank the return of the crop top for making me start working out. Having spent the last two years in a sedentary state, it did not take long for my clothes to start fitting a bit snug. Granted everyone goes through the snug-fitting-clothes stage every now and then (a lie I told myself as a coping mechanism), but it was when I bought this Zara crop top and tried it on some months ago that I almost collapsed when I saw the reflection of my not-so-flattering midsection. In the past I was fortunate enough to never have dealt with weight issues, but friends, nothing screams 'WEIGHT GAIN' like your late 20s. I can't say my mother did not warn me. Anyways, the last 2 months I've been working out like a maniac to tone any wobbly bits. So far, the most apparent results have been from Pilates, well enough results for me to actually don the dreaded Zara crop again.

All fitness issues aside, how fun is this little MM2Malletier bag? It's the perfect size for a clutch, which is how I prefer to carry it. I do love reflective accessories and had only been able to get reflective/mirrored shoes and sunglasses so this bag was a missing piece in my closet.

Happy Hump Day!
